The Suit as a Uniform
I've been thinking about the idea of a uniform.
Not the kind you're required to wear.
The kind you choose.
Interpol 3/7/26 full set Miami, FL
Paul Banks of Interpol has been known for wearing suits onstage for years.
At one point, he explained that he wanted to dress professionally for the thing he hoped would become his profession.
There's something about that I like.
Not the suit itself.
The intention behind it.
Because eventually, a uniform can become something more than clothing.
It can become a decision you no longer have to make.
You know what works.
You know how you want to feel.
You know how you want to show up.
And you repeat it.
There's freedom in that.
The older I get, the more I appreciate men who know what belongs in their wardrobe.
Not because they have everything.
Because they don't need everything. A few good jackets.
A shirt that always works.
Trousers you know you can trust.
Shoes that have seen some miles.
Nothing particularly complicated.
Just things that have earned their place.
Maybe that's what personal style eventually becomes.
Not constantly finding something new.
But becoming more certain about what is already yours.
"A uniform isn't about wearing the same thing.
It's about knowing who you're dressing for."
Enjoy your Sunday.
